Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about retractable golf impact screens — what they are, where they install, and how Screenshot Golf builds and delivers them.
What is a retractable golf impact screen?
A retractable golf impact screen is a motorized simulator screen that deploys from a roller tube for play and rolls up out of the way when not in use. Unlike a fixed frame, it leaves the room free between rounds. Screenshot Golf builds each one to order and installs it through a nationwide dealer network.
Where can a Screenshot Golf screen be installed?
In garage door openings, cased openings, passageways, or between exterior posts. The side tracks fasten either inside the opening or to the wall around it, so any span with solid structure on both sides will work. Most competing retractable screens mount to a ceiling only.
What is the Screenshot Golf impact screen made of?
Screenshot Golf screens use a dyed-white warp knit fabric at 1/8 inch thick, engineered for golf and sports simulator enclosures. The thickness absorbs sound and reduces echo, and the dyed-white finish delivers a clean projection surface with sharper image quality.
Is a Screenshot Golf screen a golf hitting screen or a golf projector screen?
Both. A Screenshot Golf screen is a golf hitting screen that takes live ball impact, and the dyed-white fabric also serves as the projector screen for your simulator image. It is one retractable unit, so the same screen handles play and projection, then rolls up when you are done.
Do I need a professional installer?
Screenshot Golf screens are installed by Eclipse Outdoor's nationwide dealer network. A self-install option is available separately through Shading Direct for buyers who prefer to handle installation themselves.
Is it compatible with my launch monitor and projector?
Yes. Screenshot Golf builds the impact screen only — it works alongside any launch monitor, projector, mat, or simulator software you choose. We do not sell simulator packages.
What sizes are available?
Screenshot Golf screens are custom built to your opening in two cassette sizes. The 5-inch cassette runs up to 14 feet wide by 10 feet of drop; the 7-inch cassette runs up to 22 feet wide by 14 feet. The minimum size for both is 9 feet wide by 8 feet of drop.
Is a Screenshot Golf screen an electric or automatic golf simulator screen?
Yes. A Screenshot Golf screen is motorized and electric. It runs on a UL-listed 110-volt plug-in motor and deploys or retracts at the push of a button, using the included remote, an optional wireless wall switch, or app control. Obstacle detection stops the screen if something is in its path.
What is the difference between a motorized and a manual roll-up golf screen?
A manual roll-up screen is raised and lowered by hand and has to be squared and secured each time. A Screenshot Golf screen is motorized: it runs in side tracks that hold the fabric flat, deploys at the push of a button, and stops if it meets an obstacle. The trade-off is cost, since a manual screen is cheaper.
What warranty comes with a Screenshot Golf screen?
Screenshot Golf screens carry a five-year warranty on the frame and motor. The fabric is warrantied for 180 days in residential use and 90 days commercially. The warranty excludes dents, chips and damage caused by golf ball impact. Replacement parts and fabric recovers are available directly from Screenshot Golf.
How much space is needed behind a golf impact screen?
Allow at least 18 inches behind a Screenshot Golf screen with the 5-inch cassette, and 24 inches with the 7-inch cassette, measured to the wall or door behind it. The fabric is translucent, so a bright window or light source directly behind the screen can show through.
Does a golf impact screen reduce noise?
Fabric thickness matters. Screenshot Golf screens use a 1/8-inch dyed-white warp knit that absorbs sound and cuts the echo that makes a garage simulator sound like a garage. No impact screen makes a simulator silent, but the fabric is chosen to keep the room from ringing.
